What do we offer?

How does it work?

We must distinguish two cases depending on whether the size and shape are standard or not:

• Case 1 – STANDARD DICE: Customization of the dice appearance excluding shape and size, which will be the standard ones shown in the following table.

The measurements refer to the height, i.e. the distance from face to face, and are expressed in millimeters (mm)

• Case 2 – NON-STANDARD DICE: Customization of the shape and every other aspect of the dice

 

1 – STANDARD DICE: CUSTOM DICE with STANDARD SHAPE and SIZE

To create your die, use the dedicated page of the dice configurator, choosing from the various available options (such as material, type of die, appearance, and quantity) the ones you prefer.

Place the order by selecting the payment and delivery method, and then all you have to do is wait for your creation to arrive!

What customization options are available for standard shape and size dice?

Customization options depend on the type of material.

Natural Stone Dice

Stone is a premium material, unique for each piece. The minimum order is 1 single die!

You can customize these types of dice:

• a full classic set (D4, D6, D8, D10, D00, D12, D20) in standard size
• a single die from the classic set in standard size
• a 30mm D20.

 

You can choose and request:

• the type of stone; we have about 50 types of stone in our catalog, but if you don’t find your favorite, send us a request and we will try to fulfill it.
• the color of numbers/artwork among those available
• the font of the numbers
• the logo or artwork to customize one or more faces of each die by choosing from those available or by sending us a PDF file with your creation; the engraving is laser, precise and long-lasting.

 

Wood Dice

Wood is a natural material, unique for each piece. The minimum order is 1 single die!

You can customize these types of dice:

• a full classic set (D4, D6, D8, D10, D00, D12, D20) in standard size
• a single die from the classic set in standard size

 

You can choose and request:

• the type of wood species.
• the color of numbers/artwork among those available
• the font of the numbers
• the logo or artwork to customize one or more faces of each die by choosing from those available or by sending us a PDF file with your creation; the engraving is laser, precise and long-lasting.

 

For the striped style, it is possible to customize both the color and thickness of the wood grain; in this case, the minimum order quantity is 350 pieces (single dice), i.e. 50 sets of 7 pieces.

Glass Dice

Glass is an elegant and fascinating material. The minimum order is 1 single die!

You can customize these types of dice:

• a full classic set (D4, D6, D8, D10, D00, D12, D20) in standard size
• a single die from the classic set in standard size
• a 30mm D20.

 

You can choose and request:

• the type of finish: glossy, frosted, or cracked effect.
• the color of the glass among the approximately 25 available
• the color of numbers/artwork among those available
• the font of the numbers
• the logo or artwork to customize one or more faces of each die by choosing from those available or by sending us a PDF file with your creation; the engraving is laser, precise and long-lasting.

 

If you want to customize the color of the glass as well, then the minimum order quantity is 100 pieces (single dice), i.e. 15 sets of 7 pieces.

Resin Dice

Resin has transparency comparable to glass and is ideal for larger productions with a better cost per piece than premium materials. The minimum order varies from 100 to 500 pieces per die type depending on the type of processing.

You can customize these types of dice BASED ON AVAILABILITY IN OUR WAREHOUSE:

• a full classic set (D4, D6, D8, D10, D00, D12, D20) in standard size
• a single die from the classic set in standard size

 

You can choose and request BASED ON AVAILABILITY IN OUR WAREHOUSE:

• the type of style: matte, transparent, marbled, and galaxy effect
• the color of the resin. The color choice can still be customized with your own PANTONE for an extra cost or with a higher minimum order quantity.

 

Additionally, you can choose and request:

• the color of numbers/artwork among the 10 available
• the logo or artwork to customize one or more faces of each die, choosing from those available or by sending us a PDF file with your creation. Two types of processing are possible:
  • laser engraving, precise and long-lasting with a minimum order of 500 pieces per die type
  • UV printing protected by a transparent coating with a minimum order of 500 pieces per die type
  • creation of a standard-size mold, which allows full customization of the die, from the font of the numbers to a logo/image replacing a number. Minimum order of 500 pieces per die type

 

Acrylic Dice

Perfect for large-scale production as it is the most cost-effective material. The minimum order is 1000 pieces per die type.

It requires the creation of a mold that allows full customization of the die, starting from its shape, the font of the numbers, the logo or artwork you want on the faces you choose, the color, and various effects (see previous PDF table).

To create a mold, a 3D file in STL format is required.

What are the technical requirements for your design file?

For the font of the numbers, a TTF format file is required

For the artwork, logo, or image to be placed on the die, a PDF file is required

For the mold of acrylic dice, a 3D file in STL format is required

Info about laser engraving

With laser engraving, it is possible to achieve a line thickness of up to 0.1 mm and the same for spacing between lines; moreover, the entire surface of the face can be used up to the edge. In practice, at such extreme definition limits, the readability of the design may be difficult and depends on the complexity of the design itself. It should also be considered that the surface of each die face is very small. Therefore, the recommendation is not to push to the limit and to remember that the simpler the design, the better the result will be.

Below you can see some examples that may help you understand the type of final result you can achieve.

Remember that the artwork or logo should not be too detailed or complex.

2 – NON-STANDARD DICE: CUSTOM SHAPE and SIZE DICE

Dice Lair offers you the possibility to create a die or a set of dice in the shape and size you prefer.

Since there are many variables involved, the only way to get an accurate quote is to describe your request to us by email.

Once all the details of your request are clear, we will provide you with an exact quote.

What customization options are available for shape and size of dice?

The size is up to you; keep in mind that standard or already tested production sizes offer economic advantages and faster production times.

Shape customization options depend on the type of material and are shown in the table below. The complexity of achievable shapes depends on each type of material: very limited for stone, glass, and wood; very extensive for resin and acrylic. It should also be considered that complex shapes require longer production times: from a maximum of 4 weeks for non-complex shapes, up to 12 weeks for the most complex ones.
